Elephant talk by author

April 12, at Milton Library at 7 p.m. author Carol Bradley, “Last Chain on Billie” spokeĀ about the history of elephants in America, their cruel treatment as circus animals, and their intelligence, and deep emotional life. Meanwhile Therese Desmond, cemetery superintendent, has installed life-sized elephant topiaries installed at the duck pond in the cemetery. Bradley’s point is that while Ringling Brothers is stopping its operations, it still owns elephants. And there are smaller circuses that continue to perform.
